The Legend Continues: 1,700+ Horsepower of Pure Alcohol Adrenaline
Superbird Racing brings a legendary muscle car icon back to life on the drag strip as a high-powered Alcohol Funny Car. Piloted by James Gordon out of Martensville, Saskatchewan, this one-of-a-kind machine combines iconic 1970 Plymouth Superbird styling with modern drag racing performance. Built on a 125-inch chromoly chassis with a custom-modified body, the car commands attention the second it rolls up to the staging lanes.
Under the Hood: Pure Power & Precision
At the heart of the Superbird is a monster 526 CID Keith Black Hemi, topped with a 14-71 blower, a Bird Catcher hat fed by an Enderle fuel system, and a Super Mag III ignition. Power is transferred through a 2-speed Lenco transmission paired with a Bruno Drive and trans brake, delivering massive launch acceleration to a Henry’s Magnesium Dana 60 rear end running a 4.10 ratio. Stopping power is handled by Strange four-wheel disc brakes equipped with a line lock, backed up by an onboard Halon fire system for maximum safety.
Driven by Passion & Community
When he isn't behind the wheel unleashing full-throttle runs on the strip, James works as an Ice Technician and stays connected with motorsports fans through livestreaming. Backed by a dedicated crew—Dave & Sherrie Bodnarchuk, Erv Neudorf, Ryan Doherty, Scott & Sheri Gordon, Leif Jensen, and Curtis Symack, Superbird Racing is proud to represent local Canadian drag racing at its highest intensity.
"Combining classic Plymouth Superbird aerodynamics with a blown Hemi engine to give drag racing fans an unforgettable show on every pass."
